Plumbing issues beset businesses on larger scale

October 27, 2015 by Eyman Plumbing Staff

Here at Eyman Plumbing, we enjoy our work with businesses. We like to help them with plumbing issues just as much as we like to assist residential customers.

When businesses have plumbing issues, they don’t have the same luxury homeowners have to decide when to fix the problem.

That’s because down time for most businesses means lost income. That’s not something our commercial customers can afford for long. So there’s a huge demand for service calls by such clients.

The most common problems

We most often fix clogged toilets and drains. Many things can cause clogs.

With toilets, commercial clients are at their customers’ mercy . If a customer flushes anything inappropriate down a toilet, blockages and water overflow can damage floors and equipment.

In commercial kitchens, such problems are often caused by pouring grease down the drain. Grease starts as a liquid, but once it cools, it quickly hardens into a solid blob that won’t easily pass through.

Water temperature is another concern. The water might run at the wrong temperature or there’s simply a lack of hot water. Either could indicate the water heater is starting to fail. But it also can be caused by wrong settings.

Sometimes, commercial clients must deal with unpleasant sewer odors. As Cleanlink.com explains, “Below a floor drain is a U-shaped pipe. As long as it is filled with water, it blocks sewer odors from being released.” But if the water dries up, sewer odors are free to roam.

Faucet and fixture leaks can be anything from a minor drip to a large dribble. Possible causes include damaged washers or seals. Left unchecked, each minor leak can waste more than 3,000 gallons a year. They also promote the growth of mold and mildew.

Eyman helps commercial customers with water heaters, drain cleaning, faucet repairs and small repairs. Got a problem ? Call us today at 402-731-2727. We can help.
