Aging Sewer Pipes Need to be Maintained
Omaha has many historic neighborhoods that are lovely and relaxing to drive through. Older homes are beautiful fixtures of any city, but as a home ages, so do its many parts. This includes its sewer lines.
When you bought your home, you may not have had its sewer lines inspected. Because they are buried underground, sewer lines are less noticeable. Roofs or siding show wear, but the wear on your underground pipes is not as obvious.
Aging sewer lines can be a major problem and a large expense if they are not maintained. This is why it is important to have yours inspected.
If an inspection finds your sewer lines need repairs, Eyman Plumbing, Heating & Air has options that save you money while providing quality repairs. We can assess your sewer system, pinpoint any issues and repair them efficiently and effectively.
We use two primary methods to clean your pipes – cable cleaning (also known as “snaking”) and hydrojetting (or jet cleaning).
Repair & Replacement Services
Cable cleaning
Cable cleaning is best for general maintenance. If you have simple repairs or just need routine upkeep, cable cleaning may be the best option. It is a less expensive, more basic process.
Cable cleaning uses a spinning cable with blades on its end to cut through roots and clear smaller drains. It is also good if your home’s pipes constrict the flow of water. The cable can cut through these layers and often restore the pipe’s original diameter.
Hydrojetting
Hydrojetting uses high-powered water to cut through roots, dissolve blockages, emulsify grease and soap, and wash away built-up dirt or debris. Eyman’s hydrojets use 4,000 pounds of pressure per square inch to cut through and push debris through the line. Because hydrojets can eliminate blockages quickly, it’s sometimes a cheaper option because it takes less time.
Some cleaning methods can cause further damage to your pipes without really cleaning them. But jet cleaning is safe and effective. Because it does not have metal blades, it can be used with a camera so we can see what we cut through and work on problem spots until we know they are repaired.
In many companies, hydrojetting is more difficult simply because there are only one or two hydrojetters to use. This can slow you because you must wait until the hydrojetter is available. But every Eyman Plumbing, Heating & Air truck carries its own hydrojetter, so it’s always available. After all, if you have a drain line issue, you want it resolved quickly.
Replacing a pipe
Sometimes straightforward repairs are not an option, and the pipe must be replaced. If there is a collapsed pipe or if the line does not let water drain away due to erosion or improper installation, you may need a replacement. Older clay pipes are particularly susceptible to cracks and root invasion. Such blockages only continue to worsen if ignored.
Eyman Plumbing, Heating & Air makes sure pipe replacements are done properly and efficiently. A camera is sent down the pipe to locate problems. The camera carries a sonde, which signals where repairs are needed. Our technicians hone in on the signal to precisely locate the issue and to learn how deep to dig. This takes guesswork out of the process.
These methods to repair or replace damaged sewer lines save you money and time, and give you peace of mind. Because Eyman Plumbing, Heating & Air stands behind our work, if you’re unhappy with the results, we do everything we can to make it right.
